THE DIGGERS CLUB
The Diggers Club is proud to be a supporter of the 2015 Australian Landscape Conference.
The club began in 1978 and since then our mission has been to preserve and promote the best heirloom vegetables and garden worthy flowers. We are here to help Australian gardeners successfully grow beautiful and productive backyards.
Our gardens at Heronswood and St Erth have been the trial grounds for our plant selections. It is through these trials that we can confidently recommend our perennials, fruit trees, vegetables and annual flower seeds. The Diggers Club is now Australia’s largest gardening club with members from Hobart to Cairns.
We produce 8 gardening magazines a year that show our members how to grow plants from seed and prune fruit trees and berries. We promote organics and ethical food and fearlessly tackle GM.
In 2011, Clive and Penny Blazey, founders of the Diggers Club, gifted ownership of their highly successful garden company along with family-owned properties Heronswood and St Erth to the Diggers Garden and Environment Trust. “We wanted to ensure that the things we have championed such as supporting heirloom seeds, sustainable gardening methods and a strong stance against GM and hybridised plants and seeds would continue,” Clive reflects.
