AUSTRALIAN LANDSCAPE CONFERENCE 2015
Art and Nature: Conflict and Harmony in the Landscape
An international conference with the world’s finest landscape and garden designers
This was a unique conference for nearly 700 people from all disciplines and walks of life.
Our 2015 conference featured ten presentations by leading international landscape designers plus two by Australians. Tim Entwisle – leading scientist and Director RBG Melbourne – launched the conference and our first presentation was by the dynamic Berliner Martin Rein-Cano – one of the most provocative minds in Europe. He was followed by the ebullient Phillip Johnson with his passion for Australian flora; Xavier Perrot took an opposite stance with his exquisite ‘artworks’ or installations; James Basson showed off his Mediterranean gardens with minimal intervention while Colombian Diana Wiesner addressed civic needs with grand landscape networks across the megalopolis. Thomas Doxiadis worked with the timeless landscapes of the Greek isles – where Angels fear to tread.
The urbane Peter Watts again took the interactive sessions as Rapporteur. A feast of contrasting gardens awaited those who took the Friday tour and for those wanting active participation, there were 17 Workshops. The more reflective cruised down the Yarra River on the Royal Barge for the Speakers’ Dinner.
A unique conference for everyone. It was brilliant!
