Renee Davies

is a landscape architect and ecologist who writes with plenty of soul...

The poetics of the garden and how our emotional responses are triggered by what we see and feel... are key elements in our understanding and connection to the places around us.  Discovering the potential of the poetry within gardens and how to achieve this by incorporating elements which stimulate all the senses such as colour, sculpture, movement, texture and smell will help us to create landscapes and gardens which cultivate a sense of delight.

Renee will explore the requirements for such gardens including the value of artworks, the need to understand local needs whilst also blending the exotic.  Renee is President of the New Zeland Institute of Landscape Architects and recent works include one of New Zealand’s first extensive green roofs using only native plant species.
