Eric Ossart & Arnaud Maurières

...have experienced remarkable careers across France and Morocco. In France they have produced a treasure trove of painterly and timeless gardens totally grounded in the lush French countryside. Whether they are aromatic herb gardens, potagers, avenues of sculptures, cascades of roses, pollarded limes or dainty grasses, they always exude exquisite French taste. At Les Colombières at Menton-Garavan, they restored the garden to its former glory;  ...the artist’s masterpiece.. wrote Charles Quest-Ritson.

And at the garden La Noria, nearUzès they have completed an amazing contemporary garden. Inspired by Mexican architect Luis Barragan with Islamic courtyards and a rose garden, it blends  minimalist architecture with sumptuous plantings. Other well known gardens by Maurières and Ossart  include the imaginative Paradise Gardens at Cordes-sur-Ciel in SW France, and the Alchemy Gardens in Provence.

In Paris, they recently designed a wonderful, medieval garden for the Museum of the Middle Ages, around the elaborate medieval cloister of the Musee Cluny−a garden meant for education and relaxation−with plant beds for cooking, medicine, flowers and a love garden (topiaries and perfumed grass).

Today, they spend much of their time in Morocco, producing marvellous, well structured gardens around mud houses and planting on water starved plains. These designs are based on their deep understanding of Islamic traditions, the oases, and the traditional water rills, fruits and palms.
