Melbourne School of Land and Environment
At the University of Melbourne’s School of Land and Environment, our interdisciplinary approach applies scientific, social, political and economic perspectives to address the needs of both human communities and the natural environment.
Celebrating its 120th anniversary in 2011 and set on 9 hectares of heritage listed gardens, Burnley Campus is renowned for teaching and research in environmental, urban and ornamental horticulture.
A strong collective of academics and contributors continue to develop education in horticultural processes to meet industry demands. Teaching and research at Burnley are responding to challenges including improving plant use and landscape design to save water, and planted infrastructure (rooves and walls) to reduce energy consumption.
