Rosemary Alexander
... is Principal of the highly respected,The English Gardening School at the historic Chelsea Physic Garden, London, and a doyenne of the world of Garden Design. She combines teaching and masterclasses worldwide with maintaining her own gardens.
Born in Scotland and trained as a landscape architect, Rosemary is a Fellow of the Society of Garden Designers, has had extensive media exposure and for 11 years was tenant of the National Trust property, Stoneacre in Kent. She now lives in Hampshire where she has created a new garden−the subject of much public interest.
She states that Garden Design is one of the most complex art forms, covering many different elements from surveying the site and understanding the soils through to selecting plants, ornaments and lighting. She will overwiew a range of leading designers and trends from around the world, illustrate how garden plans evolve, and outline how plants are used for their colour and structure, and for achieving harmonies and contrasts.
A practical and ‘hands on’ gardener, Rosemary has also written several very successful books.
