Gardens of Paradise

A Cultural Tour of Gardens, and Cities of South America.

Warwick and Sue Forge are again leading a tour to South America in October, 2010 – this time with a special focus on the Gardens of Roberto Burle Marx in Rio de Janeiro and Tersépolis, Juan Grimm’s gardens in Chile plus some heady treats in Buenos Aires. Specialist guides will include Juan Grimm and Rudolf Thomann. Most of the gardens are private and opened by special arrangement.

While the principal focus will be upon these gardens we will also visit houses, villages and vineyards. We will encounter the houses, poetry and imagination of the charismatic Pablo Neruda, Chile’s Nobel Laureate poet, visit the historic port of Valparaiso with its crazy architecture and the bold will dance the tango in Buenos Aires!

We will savour Rio de Janeiro, city of Carnival, favelas and the great artist-landscaper Roberto Burle Marx−a place of action and passion, nourished by hopes and dreams… and see it from the sky, with Christ the Redeemer’s statue. We will also see the fabulous landscapes and gardens of Burle Marx, who has done so much to shape Brazil today.

If you wish to express an interest in this tour which will take about 18 days, please do so promptly since it has created much excitement.
