Paul Bangay

Paul Bangay is one of Australia’s most successful and high profile landscape designers with a design practice divided between Australian and overseas commissions. Renowned for capturing a state of perfect harmony and balance in the landscape, his innate ability to apply scale and symmetry manifests itself in gardens of both beauty and functionality.  The evolving adoption of Australian plants and drought tolerant varieties of turf and exotic plant material in his designs acknowledges the need for sustainable gardens in a changing environment.

His spare time is spent at Stonefields, the garden he is building in the country. Paul’s influential previous books, The Defined Garden, the Boxed Garden, the Balanced Garden and The Enchanted Garden, continue to find new readers. His current release, Paul Bangay’s Garden Design Handbook, was released in 2008. He was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2001 for his contribution to Australian landscape design and has recently worked with Stephanie Alexander on community garden projects.
