Eckersley Garden Architecture is a boutique landscape design firm based in Melbourne that brings a revitalised approach to landscape creation from the iconic stable of Rick Eckersley.  Long time associates and recent partners Scott Leung and Myles Broad join Rick to bring knowledge, innovation and passion to an industry on the cusp of change.

Years of experience in design, sustainable garden principles, horticultural science and building construction gives Eckersley Garden Architecture the ability to take the art of garden making to new levels in a market place which values fresh ideas and requires a new, sustainable approach to gardens.

No longer a ‘fly by the seat of your pants’ industry, garden making has matured and Eckersley Garden Architecture is at the forefront of that change.  The garden industry is increasingly moving towards the concept of outdoor spaces becoming built forms. People’s expectations of gardens have changed too - from a simple appreciation of greenery in the backyard, to an understanding of outdoor lifestyle and all that a well designed outdoor space can offer.

Eckersley Garden Architecture is a landscape design firm driven by all facets of the design process – there is no cookie cutter formula.  We understand how space and facility work together to create lifestyle and amenity.  We understand how clients work (mostly) and our designs are always guided by their brief but also by our sense of style and practicality, resulting in individually tailored gardens.  We understand the importance of horticulture and its role within the garden.  But most important is our understanding of how all of these elements blend together and create a thing of beauty. So often an element of design is lost along the way and the resultant gardens can be two dimensional and lack personality. Eckersley Garden Architecture has an intuitive sense of how a garden space can be pulled together to celebrate all of the senses.

Eckersley Garden Architecture receives commissions Australia wide and internationally.  Our client base is as varied as our garden designs, ranging from small residential, to commercial multi residential, to country retreats.  We also work closely with leading Australian architects.

The business operates from two locations - the principal office in the Melbourne inner city suburb of Richmond, and a secondary office in Flinders, a rural coastal area of the Mornington Peninsula.
